About Us

The 16th Winter Deaflympics will be held 1-10 February 2007, in Salt Lake City, USA. The Deaflympics was founded in 1924 and is the second oldest international multi-sports and cultural festival, and is recognized by and under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. Approximately 300 deaf and hard of hearing athletes, from 20 nations, are expected to participate in the 2007 Winter Deaflympics, cheered on by 4,000 to 6,000 fans.

There will be five sports in the 2007 Deaflympics; alpine skiing, snowboarding, nordic skiing, ice hockey, and curling. Some of the venues are the same facilities used for the 2002 Winter Olympics, snowboarding and Alpine skiing at Park City Mountain Resort, and Nordic skiing at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. The opening and closing ceremonies will be at one of the former Olympic venues.
