16th Winter Deaflympics: Moving Forward for One and All
The 16th Winter Deaflympics, to be held in Salt Lake City USA (SLC) February 1-10, 2007, will offer the best of the Winter Deaflympics tradition, competition featuring the world’s best deaf athletes, and a cultural arts festival. In an effort to have something for winter sports enthusiasts and others, the 16th Winter Deaflympics Organizing Committee is planning to create an international winter sports and cultural arts festival that will coincide with the Games. The Deaflympics, founded in 1924, is the second oldest international multi-cultural sports event in the world, surpassed only by the Olympics which were founded in 1894.

2007 Winter Deaflympics Organizing Committee Announces $250,000 Donation from Sorenson Legacy Foundation
Largest Cash Gift Received by the Deaflympic Winter Games Will Help Ensure Success of Premier Athletic and Cultural Event
The 2007 Winter Deaflympics Organizing Committee today announced receipt of a $250,000 donation from the Sorenson Legacy Foundation to sponsor the opening ceremony of the 2007 Winter Deaflympics. The Games are expected to draw 400 deaf athletes from 20+ countries and over 6,000 fans to Salt Lake and Park City, February 1-10, 2007. The donation is the largest cash gift the international sports competition has received.

DeafNation, Inc., of Frederick, Maryland, became a Bronze Medal Partner of the 16th Winter Deaflympics, scheduled to be held February 1-10, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
DeafNation’s Chief Executive Officer Joel Barish and 2007 Deaflympics Organizing Committee Chairperson Dwight Benedict signed an agreement in which DeafNation provides 2007 Deaflympics Organizing Committee with promotional media support through numerous Deaf community events hosted by DeafNation; DeafNation Expos, golf tournaments, art festivals, and the DeafNation website before, during and after the 2007 Winter Deaflympics.
